Our two-week trip was from Ceuta in the north to M'Hamid on the edge of the Sahara, and back via Marrakech and Tangier. There were three of us: Patrick (1992 Honda XR600, five years' offroad experience and one trip to North Africa under his belt); Mark (1996 XR600, a few months off-road),and myself (1996 XR600, 2 years off-road).
The idea was to see as much beautiful and varied scenery as possible (mountains, forest, desert), and arrive at the desert having covered as much ground as possible on dirt roads rather than on surfaced roads. None of us had been to Morocco before, and only Patrick had been on an extended trip on a dirt bike. This probably made us a bit over-cautious and over-prepared in terms of the number of spare parts and tools we took with us, the amount of which was probably more suited to a 3-month trans-Sahara expedition than a 2-week holiday, but what the heck, better safe than sorry !
